I weighed anchor after breakfast at about 0700 and we went back to Wasahamnen, there was a boat on the berth that I had paid for but plenty of other free berths, I went alongside two boats down from ‘my berth’ , a chap from a motor boat helped me tie up. I pottered along to see if there were any signs of movement with the boat on my berth but there weren’t (they didn’t need to leave before 1200). I looked at the arrangement of the marina and it looked like, if I went beyond the loos I’d need a code to get in and the only codes I’d been given had been for the loos and showers. I went back to the boat and did some pottering and re checked for codes but there was nothing. There seemed to be an office by the loos but it was locked. I tried phoning  the marina and got through to someone and it looked like I’d been trying the wrong office. There was another one past the entrance gate and when I actually went through the gate it didn’t lock anyway. At the office I explained about my having booked through dockspot. com and he said that they only had 10 berths with dockspot  and all other berths, if free, were available.  This was great, so I paid for a second night and he said I didn’t need to move to my allocated spot once they’d gone, he’d just remove the sign. He also gave me the code for the bicycles. Yes, they have a selection of bikes for customer’s use and soon I had myrucksack on and was cycling towards a co op just off the Island. I bought a rucksack full of food and beer and went back to the boat for some cleaning and cooking, well, mostly cooking. I was making a fish pie for the evening and a lasagne for whenever appeared appropriate. Whilst cooking it appeared I was out of other stuff and hadn’t found all I’d wanted so looking at google maps there appeared to be a Lidl not far away and I went there next finding all that I wanted. Back on the boat I finished the cooking  and tidied up a bit and did some cleaning. I did another Lidl run and bought a sandwich for lunch which I had back on the boat and then went to the wreck museum just opposite the marina which also had a pre viking viking exhibition. It appears that ‘officially’ the viking era started in about 729 with the vikings taking Lindisfarne but there was plenty of evidence for viking stuff from before this, so: a pre viking, viking exhibition. By the time I’d finished in the museum it was close to landing time for my Cuba lot joining. I watt-sapped to see if they had landed and then noticed that my phone was no longer on line and needed to be topped up but, inevitably, as it wasn’t on line I couldn’t and my ipad with a different sim card wasn’t getting a strong enough signal to work. As it was now about half an hour after scheduled arrival time I had visions of them arriving at any moment so put the fish pie in the oven and went to the office to see if there was a wifi signal there which didn’t matter as by the time I was there the ipad had a 4g signal and we were up and running. Once on line I messaged Graham and found that they’d just landed so had been delayed about half an hour so went back to the boat and had a beer. Their luggage took ages to arrive too so they ended up arriving at about 2100. We all met up close to the Vasa museum, said our hellos and so on then went back to the boat popped open some fizz and had a welcome drink followed by fish pie. We would have had chocolate eclairs for pudding but I’d omitted to read the Swedish instructions which stated that they needed to be defrosted in the fridge for 24 minutes. So we made do with more wine and chat which was better anyway. I’d planned on gravalax  to start with but was worried that the fish pie was overcooking so we’d tucked straight into that. We then all went to bed.
